Here's one way to think about your fitness journey. Are you striving for success, or are you trying to avoid failure?
STRIVING FOR SUCCESS
If you're striving for success, you're proactively doing the things that support your goals. Protein and veggies with every meal. Staying hydrated. Prioritizing your sleep.
AVOIDING FAILURE
That's very different from trying to avoid failure, which means cutting corners and dodging the hard choices. An example would be turning down a dinner invitation because you're afraid you'll eat the wrong things or drink too much.
Well, now you've also missed out on time with people you enjoy. A better move is to say yes, but eat a little beforehand so you're not starving when you arrive. And decide ahead of time you'll have one glass of wine instead of three or four.
The clearest path to success isn't avoiding situations where you might fail. It's stepping into them and preparing yourself to succeed.
So ask yourself honestly. Are you chasing what you want, or just hiding from what you don't? One of those gets you somewhere.
