Four-time NBA champion LeBron James reportedly spends $1.5 million a year on his body. Russell Wilson said he spends more than a million annually taking care of himself.

Elite athletes need the best equipment, sure. But a lot of that money goes to actual humans. Trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, and the like.

EQUIPMENT ISN'T THE POINT

The big gyms proved years ago that the fanciest equipment is useless if no one shows you how to use it properly, builds a program around your goals, and holds you accountable to the work.

Now, I'm not saying you should spend a million dollars on your body even if you had it. But I am saying this. Of everything we could spend money on, our body and health are among the very best investments, with a very high return.

"I CAN'T AFFORD IT"

So when someone tells me they can't afford to hire a coach, I'm a little skeptical. Often it isn't about not having the money. It's about how we've chosen to spend it. And too often, we spend it on everything but ourselves.

We've been taught for decades to save and invest for retirement so we can live comfortably later. That matters. But I hope someday investing in our bodies gets prioritized just as much.

It doesn't take a million dollars a year to be strong, healthy, and resistant to disease. But it probably costs more than we're spending now.

So, how much is your body worth? Just something to think about.
